On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July, the colour, culture and passion of Rio de Janeiro will take over the streets of Felixstowe as the Carnival procession passes through!
The dancing commences at 1pm on Colneis Rd and the ‘Rio Carnival’ inspired parade will shake its way through Beatrice Avenue, Hamilton Road, Orwell Road, Garrison Lane, Undercliff Road West and Sea Road, culminating at the Micklegate Road.
Throughout the weekend’s festivities the seafront will play host to plenty of fun activities, stalls, refreshments, music and entertainment for people of all ages, so it’s sure to be a great day out for the whole family. There will also be demonstrations and displays from local community groups, not to mention the traditional fun fair by the pier.
Break out the Lycra and your best Mo-bot as visitors are also encouraged to don sporting attire in celebration of the impending Rio Olympics!
Carnival Weekend will conclude with a spectacular seafront fireworks display from the end of the pier from 9.30pm on Sunday evening. With excellent vantage points along the promenade, a great view of the explosive show is guaranteed.
This is a popular event for the Felixstowe community and as sponsors of the Main Stage, the Nicholas Estates teams from all branches will be there to soak up the atmosphere and join in the revelry.
It’s our second year of supporting the Felixstowe Carnival as a main sponsor, and we had such a good time last year, it was an easy decision to get involved again. It’s really nice to see the Felixstowe community, and people from further afield, turn out in force to celebrate the vibrancy of the town – fingers crossed the weather plays ball and the seafront turns into Suffolk’s answer to Copacabana Beach!
We hope to see you all there, sporting some Spandex!
